Filling for Grievance Cases

🗣️ Instances may arise wherein you feel unfairly treated or violated of your rights as an individual. When that happens, do not hesitate to file for a Grievance. Grievances can either be related to academic matters or behavioral issues.

As a DLSU student, you may file a grievance alone, as a group with three or more students, or as a class (involving more than half of the course’s total enrolled students).

Complaints can be filed against staff, faculty members, or other members of the academic community.  To file, kindly select if you prefer your concern to be addressed through a formal or informal process.

Formal Grievance

Concerns are addressed through written

and duly signed documents.

Step 1: Approach the USG Office of the President to assign a Student Adviser from the USG Judiciary to assist you.

Step 2: Write to the involved faculty’s Department Chair, expressing your concerns with your signature. Send a copy of the letter to the Department Chair and the Faculty Member.

Note: The student’s copy must be duly received and dated by the Department Chair.

Step 3: The faculty member is expected to respond within three working days.

Step 4: The Department Chair evaluates both the complaint and the response to arrive at a resolution.

Step 5: If the student is unsatisfied with the resolution, a written appeal can be made to the Ad Hoc Grievance Board within five working days of hearing from the Department Chair.

Step 6: If the student remains unsatisfied, a written appeal can be made to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Academics (VCA) within five working days of hearing from the Ad Hoc Grievance Board.

Step 7: Finally, if the student is still unsatisfied with the decision, a written appeal can be made to the University Chancellor within five working days of hearing from the VCA.

Informal Grievance

Concerns are addressed orally through a sincere dialogue between students and involved faculty members.

Step 1: Approach the faculty member. Explain the issue and suggest ways to resolve it.

Step 2: If the issue remains, involve the faculty’s Department Chair and a USG representative in the conversation to act as mediators.

Step 3: For further assistance, kindly reach out to the USG President or the USG Judiciary.
