About Mrs. Perfecto
Hello there! My name is Lara Perfecto and I am a 4th grade teacher at DMCS. I am absolutely thrilled to be teaching your students! This is my 10th year of teaching (9th year teaching at DMCS) and I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a supportive and welcoming community. I have a passion for math and art, and I also LOVE to read stories aloud. I have always loved working with children and value the importance of teaching to the whole child; academically, socially, and emotionally.
Growing up, my family moved around from California, to Japan, to Singapore, to Washington State, and back to California where I have lived since I was a teenager. Currently, I live in Davis with my husband, Dario, and our dogs Cocoa and Bear. We have 3 absolutely amazing children, Rylan, Ashton, and Natalia, and we love our movie/game nights! When I'm not busy with teaching/planning, I am an avid reader, love to swim, and am a huge fan of frogs. Also, spending time outdoors on my stand up paddle board or on a hike can completely fill my heart's bucket!
About a decade into my career in Business Management, I found myself feeling burned out and lacking in fulfillment. Then, one day, I volunteered in my son's 1st grade class (he is now 25!) and I knew that the classroom was where I belonged! It took many years and a lot of sacrifice, but I received my degree and became a teacher. I am a Chico State graduate with a Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies, and I am a UC Davis graduate with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Masters in Education with a Math/Science focus.
