This Section was established in 2010 for the purpose of creating a forum where Alaska Native/American Indian/Indigenous women can network, get mentorship and support each other; provide outreach, guidance, and mentoring to Indigenous students of psychology; promote the fundamental objectives of the American Psychological Association and Div. 35; advance understanding of psychology of Indigenous women; and further the development of research methods and models of treatment and intervention that are ethnically, culturally and gender appropriate for Indigenous women.

2025 Section 6 Elections - Call for Nominations
Our APA Division 35 Section 6 has five offices or roles to fill. Please submit your nomination (self-nomination accepted) which includes the following information to Alberta Arviso at aarviso@arizona.edu by March 15, 2025:
Your name and your contact email.
Designate title of nomination.
A brief statement (less than 200 words) on your background (i.e. tribe, current work, interest, how you hope to advance Section 6, etc).
We look forward to receiving your nominations.
President-Elect
The President-elect shall have the responsibility to provide leadership in establishing a vision for long-term development of the Section.
Treasurer
The Treasurer shall prepare a report of the Section finances at least twice per year, and will send annual dues notices to all members and affiliates.
