On 23 May 2025, I had the privilege of joining the seminar “Generative AI in Journalism and the Scopes of Fact-Checking” at Daffodil Tower, Shobhanbag. The event brought together leading journalists, AI experts, and educators to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming media—from automated content creation to the growing need for robust fact-checking systems.The discussions highlighted both the opportunities and ethical challenges of AI in journalism, emphasizing the irreplaceable role of human oversight in an era of misinformation. On November 22, 2024, I attended an insightful session on Journalists’ Safety and Journalism in Crisis Situations, organized by the Department of Journalism, Media, and Communication at DIU. Held at the Daffodil Tower Auditorium (Milonayoton 71, Dhanmondi), the event brought together media professionals, academics, and students to discuss the critical challenges journalists face in high-risk environments.The session featured a keynote address by Dr. Gregory John Simons, Associate Professor at Turība University, Latvia, who shared global perspectives on media safety, ethical dilemmas, and strategies for reporting in conflict zones. This engaging discussion highlighted the risks journalists encounter, the evolving nature of crisis reporting, and the need for stronger safety protocols. From 24-26 October 2022, I participated in an intensive Television Reporting Follow-Up Boot-camp, organized by MRDI (Media Development and Diversity Initiative) in collaboration with Fojo Lumineus University. This advanced training was designed as a skill-enhancing continuation of the earlier Television Reporting Boot-camp, bringing together 20 promising young journalists for hands-on learning.The boot-camp featured expert trainers, including:
