Probability Distribtutions

Introduction

Discrete Distributions

Distribution of a random variable that takes only finite set of values. For example, the number of cars that pass a toll booth, there cannot be half a car. This section will look at three common examples:

• Bernoulli distributions;
• Binomial distributions;
• Poisson distributions.

Continuous Distributions

If a random variable is a continuous variable , its probability distribution is called a continuous probability distribution. For example age is a continuous variable.
