PART 1- Making Simple Decisions

In this lesson we learn how to make decisions using the IF statement. We also learn the basics of relational operators which are required for performing comparisons.

Decision complexity increases as more conditions are requried. Nested IF statements are required along with a way to represent complex decisions in our requirements statements, so we also introduce basic flowcharts

PART 3 - FIX THE Elevator

Enter a floor as if you were using the buttons on an elevator. In this elevator there is no button 13 so it can't be selected.

Alteration 1: If someone does enter 13, change the value to 14.

Alteration 2: In some countries 14 is also unlucky. Modify the program so that 13th and 14th floors are not selectable and adjust the actual floor accordingly. Click on the instructions table for more information.

PART 4 - Add in condition

Change the program such that if the person is old enough to get wine, they are asked if they are driving. If they are driving then they cannot be served wine.. Click on the instructions table for more information.

PART 4 - Change the tax rate

Change the program so that there is a higher rate of tax for single people when they earn over 100000. Click on the instructions link for more information.
