Meet Mrs. Collins

This is my 22nd year teaching at Ames School.  I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade here.  I love being an Ames School Dolphin! : )

One of my favorite hobbies is dancing. I have taken tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, Middle Eastern and Irish dance classes. I was an Irish dancer for most of my life!

I have a 22-month-old son named Declan who LOVES Bluey and playing with balls.

I have 2 dogs named Marley and Diva. Marley is a 7-year-old black lab/hound mix, and Diva is a 5-year-old Australian shepherd/border collie/lab mix.

We live by a forest preserve and I love to go hiking and biking on the trail almost every day.

I LOVE to travel!  Some of my favorite places to travel are Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Bali, New Zealand, Thailand, Ireland, Italy, Spain, France, and Switzerland.  

My all-time favorite vacation was a family trip to the Grand Canyon.  My dad and I hiked all the way to the bottom and back up to the rim in one day!  It was really tough and I was very sore... but I felt so proud of my accomplishment! I loved it so much I got married there! : )

Reading is my favorite subject in school because books can be entertaining AND informative!

You can see me Irish dancing in the movie “The Fugitive” for 2 seconds in the parade scene!

I am a Cubs fan AND a White Sox fan!  Go Chicago!
