What is Art Connections?

Brook Park's Art Connections program invites parents and guardians to engage with K-5 students through creative art appreciation lessons within their child's classroom. Originally inspired by the Picturing America grant program "Picture Person", this volunteer-led initiative allows parents and caregivers to teach a 45-minute art lesson in their child's classroom. Scheduling is coordinated with the classroom teacher, ensuring a seamless experience for everyone involved. Our website offers lessons with slide shows with art supplies provided by the BPC. This collaborative program not only enhances students' artistic skills but also strengthens the connection between home and school.

If selected to present an art project:

• Your child’s teacher will confirm your assigned seasonal project and schedule the date with you via email.

• Use the seasonal project and presentation posted on the website.

• Plan ahead to ensure you have enough supplies. A stocked art supply closet is available in the teacher workroom (across from the Gold Teachers’ Lounge).

• To review supplies in advance, email your classroom teacher to confirm a date and time to enter into the building.
