ALL ABOUT OUR CLASSROOM
Folder
At the beginning of the school year your child will be given a daily folder. This folder is our means of communication between school and home. This folder needs to be brought back to school daily. When you open the folder, in the inside, you will see that one side says, “Stay at Home” and the other side says, “Back to school.” Any papers that are put on the “Stay at Home” side are papers you may keep at your home and do what you would like with. Papers that are put on the “Back to school” side are papers that need to be looked at by you, the parents, and brought back to school the next school day. This folder is very important! Please make sure that your child always has this in their backpack for the next day of school. Thanks in advance for your help with this wonderful means of communication!
Reading Folder
There will be flip books, decodable books, sheets, and high frequency words in your child’s reading folder. Return the folder back to school and your child will receive new books after reading them to an adult. High frequency words will also be in the folder to practice along with other learning materials. Please work on and read anything that comes home in the folder. These may be completed sheets that your child just needs to read to you!
Birthday treats
We love to celebrate birthdays! When your child's special day arrives, you are allowed to bring in non-food trinket type items if you wish.
Newsletters
I will send a paper newsletter once a month in your child's daily folder to highlight important events, etc. I will also send weekly emails about important updates and reminders. Please check your email/child's folder often to ensure you and your child are current with school information.
Behavior Plan
Students will receive "huskie hero" tickets when they are making positive choices around the school and inside of the classroom. The students will keep track of how many tickets they receive. After a certain number of tickets, they can cash them in for a prize. As a class we will have a "bingo board". When students as a whole are making good choices they can earn a bingo piece at random. Once they earn a bingo, we will celebrate as a class.
