Third graders are expected to read 20 minutes each night in a book of their choosing. Research has shown daily independent reading to be one of the most important factors in predicting student success in school. Please encourage your child to read daily, and ask questions about what he/she is reading!
Students are also expected to complete independent practice that will be assigned to them on occasion. Along with turning in any permission forms or information that needs parent signatures.
3rd grade is the first year that your child will come home with a nightly planner. We will write in these after every class period. Any independent practice that they have for the night will be written in their planner. Please initial their planner every night whether there is an assignment assigned or not.
Our classroom will be 1 to 1 Chromebooks, in the classroom. They will not be taken home at night. Students will use all of the technology available to us throughout the year to expand their knowledge of technology and how it can be used constructively in our daily lives. Students will be using their Google accounts frequently.
Everything they need to know will be taught throughout the first couple weeks of school.
As we all know, the use of technology is not without its setbacks. We will work together to troubleshoot problems as they
arise.
We will celebrate birthdays in our classroom. A reminder that food treats are not allowed. Feel free to bring in other treats if you wish, but do not feel you need to. I will be sure to make it a great day for your child!
Students can bring a water bottle to school daily. I ask that they take it home every night to be washed and refilled. WATER ONLY.
