Nichols Middle School Athletics – A New Chapter

Dear Nichols Families,

We are excited to share that Nichols Middle School is entering a new era of athletics, one that expands opportunities for all of our students to engage, grow, and succeed. Beginning this school year, our athletic program will include three dynamic pathways for participation:

• Interscholastic Sports – Continuing the tradition of competitive team play against other schools, offering students the chance to develop their skills, teamwork, and school pride.
  
  

• Intramural Sports – Expanding opportunities right here at Nichols for students who prefer a fun, inclusive, and recreational experience. Intramurals are designed to give every student a chance to play, stay active, and enjoy the benefits of sport—without the commitment of interscholastic competition.
  
  

• IESA Cross Country & Track and Field – Nichols is proud to join the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) for cross country and track and field. This provides our student-athletes with the opportunity to compete at a higher level, including postseason events.
  
  

This expanded model ensures that every Nichols student has a place in our athletic community—whether they aspire to compete, to learn new skills, or to stay active with friends. Our goal is to create a culture where every student can find a pathway that fits their interests, abilities, and schedules.
