Competitive Robotics
At HHS our robotics teams participate in VEX Robotics Competitions (VRC). Student teams engineer a robot to compete each season in a multifaceted 2-minute game. Students focus on design, construction, and documentation as well as coding, and driving their bot. Teams compete locally at tournaments in our region with the chance to make it to state and hopefully the world-level tournaments.
In addition to learning valuable engineering skills, students gain life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, communication, collaboration, project management, and critical thinking. Students teams are interviewed at each event by judges who evaluate their robot design, construction, documentation, and team collaboration.
Teams meet 3 days per week (Mon, Wed & Thurs) after school in W1107 from 2:30-3:45pm August - March. Students who plan do competitive robotics must be able to commit to the 3 days per week for the entire season. Tournaments are held on select Saturdays or Sundays at schools across northern Illinois.
