The BHS Band Department provides a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment by exploring new opportunities, connecting to the community, and inspiring new generations of musicians through musical performance and outreach.

About the Director(s)

Jason Costabile earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music and Digital Cinema in Production from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa in 2018. While at Wartburg, Mr. Costabile was a member of the touring Wind Ensemble, the Wartburg-Waverly Community Symphony Orchestra, and the president of the Wartburg Drumline. He also was the creative director and lead producer at Your Sound Studios, a recording studio on Wartburg's campus. Primarily a percussionist, Mr. Costabile has performed all over the world with the Wind Ensemble and composed original pieces which were performed by bands in Illinois and Iowa.

Mr. Costabile spent the summer of 2018 working in the recording industry at a few Chicagoland recording studios before enrolling at Vandercook College of Music to pursue certification in Music Education, completing that program in 2021. While at Vandercook, he performed as a Euphonium player in the Vandercook Symphonic Band at the Midwest Clinic, as well as with the Vandercook Percussion Ensemble. It was at Vandercook that Mr. Costabile joined the Xi Kappa chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Since 2013, Mr. Costabile has been composing music for various groups, including scoring stage plays such as The Really Most Sincerely Wonderful Wizard of Oz and A Christmas Carol. He has also been a songwriter, maintaining a love for producing music with his band, Welcome to the Weekend. Their first album, Start the Conversation, released in February of 2021.
