Art 309

Welcome to the Hannibal High School Art Room 309 website. Here you will find, daily posts, assignment information, and most importantly, a student gallery that highlights the amazing work of my students from art room 309.

Be sure to check out the "Interesting Websites" page where I will have everything from art, to science, to interesting historical information. Google Arts and Culture is a particularly amazing site for looking at and learning about art.

Welcome Students and Parents

My name is Lisa Wiese and I will be teaching Ceramics 1 and 2 as well as Drawing 1 this fall, 2022, semester. I am originally from St. Louis Missouri. I graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis with a BA in Art Education k-12, and from Webster University with an MA in Studio Art/Ceramics. I have taught art at the following levels; elementary, high school, university. In 2006 I opened a clay studio in St. Louis where I was a full time production potter for six years. During this time I created ceramic pieces for clients who requested large orders of pottery. My clients ranged from financial firms to youth groups. After six years of production work I began to feel more like a machine than an artist so I decided to return to teaching and return to my roots as an artist.

My experiences as an artist include creating literally thousands of pots on the potter’s wheel, building kilns and burners, as well as gathering earth materials for clays and glazes. My other interests are kayaking, backpacking, skiing, geology, and wildlife rehabilitation work. I am a member of the local, Hannibal, Master Naturalist Chapter, I raced my third MR340 this past summer in a kayak I built. In my off time I build Skin on Frame kayaks.
