We celebrated our 175 students that earned Honor Roll with a breakfast this week!
Our 7th and 8th grade Student Ambassadors did an AMAZING job telling our story and representing our school at the Association for Illinois Middle School Conference.
Student Attendance Matters: Safety and Risk Reduction: Students in school are in a supervised environment, which reduces the likelihood of engaging in risky behaviors or substance use.
IAR Testing: Next week, from March 11th to 13th, all of our students will participate in the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). This state-required assessment is a vital tool that measures student progress in English Language Arts and Mathematics, providing us with the data necessary to ensure our curriculum effectively meets every child's needs. Because the IAR is designed to reflect classroom learning, it is an important opportunity for students to showcase the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout the school year.
Consistent attendance during this three-day window is essential for both your child and our school community. When students are present, they can test in their familiar classroom environment with their own teachers, which significantly reduces "test anxiety" and helps them perform at their best. Furthermore, high attendance helps us meet the federal requirement of a 95% participation rate and minimizes the need for make-up testing later next week, which can be disruptive to a student's regular instructional schedule.
You can help your child feel confident and prepared by ensuring they get plenty of rest each night and eat a nutritious breakfast each morning. Please make sure your child arrives at school on time, as testing often begins shortly after the first bell. Additionally, each student needs to make sure they bring their Chromebook and that it is fully charged. We appreciate your partnership and support in helping our students succeed during this important week!
P/T/S Conferences: Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner and will take place on March 19th. Sign-up information was sent via ParentSquare last week. These conferences will be student-led, and we encourage students to attend alongside you. Please indicate what type of conference you would like (In-person/virtual) and if translation will be needed. We look forward to sharing the progress students have made so far and discussing our goals as we head toward the end of the school year.
