The Countryside Fire Department joined our 8th grade Science classes to talk about fire safety this week!
All of our students did a great job completing our universal social-emotional learning survey this week. This data will help our school develop supports and to meet the needs of all of our students.

Student Attendance Matters: Frequent absences make it difficult for teachers to build the caring relationships that serve as a protective factor for vulnerable youth.
8th Grade Save the Dates/Dance: The end of the school year is coming quickly and we are excited to celebrate our 8th grade's final months with us. Please review our upcoming important dates and complete this Form if you would be willing to help with our 8th grade dance.
Bus Safety: Please review the following letter as our bus company will be upgrading their safety protocols by wearing reflective vests in order to make themselves more easily identifiable.
MHS Cheerleading: All 8th grade students planning to participate in Mundelein High School's cheerleading team are invited to attend their tryouts for the months of April and May.
Carmel Cheerleading: All 8th graders that are planning to attend Carmel Catholic High School next year are invited to attend their cheerleading tryouts. Please review this flyer for more information.
Summer Band: Our annual West Oak Summer Band will be available for our 5th-7th graders and will be held at West Oak Middle School from June 15th - July 2nd. We will be meeting Monday-Thursdays from 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM. Please fill out this Form to sign your student up for this amazing enrichment camp! The fee for this camp is $75.00. Cash or check (Made out to “West Oak Middle School”) is accepted and can be turned into the main office at West Oak Intermediate or Middle School. **Registration will be closing on May 1st** If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I hope to see your student in the summer!
Illinois Science Assessment: From April 8th-10th, all 8th grade students will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment. (ISA) The ISA aligns with our new Illinois Learning Standards in Science. This assessment helps families understand how well students are performing academically and see whether they are on track to succeed in college. The ISA represents Illinois’ commitment to preparing all students for college and careers, including in the high-demand science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. The assessment also satisfies federal accountability requirements and is designed to reflect classroom experiences. Here is a letter with more information regarding the Illinois Science Assessments.
Summer Exploration Camp: We are excited to announce that Summer Exploration Camp registration is open and is available to all D76 students K-8th grade. Summer Exploration Camp will run Monday through Thursday, June 3rd-July 2nd, from 8-11:30am at Diamond Lake School. There is no cost and transportation will be provided. Mayors STEM Challenge: We are excited to announce that Mundelein High School has once again agreed to host the Annual Mayor’s STEM Challenge. The event will take place on Sunday, April 19, with an individual Math and team STEM competitions. Here is a flyer for more information. Students will be able to sign up through their Math teachers.
Diamond Awards: New to this year, we ask families to complete this nomination Form if they would like to recognize a staff member they feel are going above and beyond with what they do in the classroom, school, or district. Next Fun Night: Join us for a fun afternoon at Just for Fun Roller Rink on Sunday, April 12th, from 3:30-6:00pm. It will be $10 to skate and $5 for spectators. Food will be available to purchase and students pre-K through fifth grade must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.
