Dear West Oak Intermediate Families,
It was great to get back into the swing of things and back into our routines with a full five-day week! Last week was full of celebrations as we held our September Assembly and recognized our Students of the Month who embodied this month’s value of Respect. We are so proud of our students for showing respect in their words, actions, and choices each day!
During the Countryside Fire Protection District’s visit and fire safety activities last week, students learned important skills for preventing fires and staying safe during emergencies. We appreciate their time and partnership in teaching our students important safety skills. In addition, the CFPD is offering smoke alarm installation at no cost to residents within their fire district. Please click here to view additional information and to sign up.
We wish all of our Wolfpack families a great three-day weekend—there is no school on Monday in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. We look forward to seeing students back at school on Tuesday, October 14th. As a reminder, throughout the month of October, students will earn three Pack Points for every day they are present—let’s keep up the great attendance!
Sincerely,
Natalie Kalette
Principal
West Oak Intermediate School
SEL Screener: Next week, our students will be participating in a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) screener through FastBridge called SAEBRS. This brief questionnaire helps us better understand how students are doing socially, emotionally, and behaviorally so that we can provide the right supports to help them thrive at school. The screener is not a test, but rather a tool that gives us valuable insight into how we can continue to build a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for all students.
Picture Retakes: For any students who missed fall pictures on September 12th, we will have retakes the morning of October 16th. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the WOIS office.
4th Grade Concert: Our 4th Grade Concert is scheduled for Thursday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the West Oak Middle School Gym. 4th grade students should arrive by 6:45 p.m. and report to the middle school cafeteria to prepare. The theme is Hispanic Heritage Month!
Community Wellness Fair: Join us on Thursday, November 6th for a special visit with author and psychologist Doug Bolton and Community Wellness Fair! He’ll share insights from his new book and lead a conversation on how a student’s community—families, schools, and local partners—can foster wellness and drive academic success. Come learn practical strategies to strengthen belonging, build resilience, and create the supportive networks every learner needs to thrive. The Wellness Fair will take place from 6:00-7:00 p.m., and Dr. Doug Bolton will speak at 7:00 p.m. Please click here for more information.
BPAC Meeting: Our next D76 Bilingual Parent Advisory Council meeting will be on October 23rd from 6-7:00pm. Here is a flyer English/Spanish for more details.

Clubs and Activities: Clubs and activities are underway! Here is the after school clubs and activities schedule.
Birthday Treats: Due to dietary restrictions and various allergies within the classrooms, families will need to refrain from providing birthday treats. Classrooms will recognize and celebrate students’ birthdays in other ways! We appreciate your understanding.

MHS Cheerleading Clinic: Please review this flyer English/Spanish if you are interested in having your child participate in Mundelein High School's cheerleading clinic on October 16th.
Diamond Awards: New to this year, we ask families to complete this nomination Form if they would like to recognize a staff member they feel are going above and beyond with what they do in the classroom, school, or district. Please consider spreading the positivity by highlighting the great work that staff our doing in our district.
D76 CARES: At D76, the well-being of our students and families is our top priority. Understanding the critical role mental health plays in student success, we have launched D76 CARES - a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving access to quality mental health services across our community. D76 CARES stands for Community, Advocacy, Resilience, Engagement, and Support. Treatment services are initially provided free of charge to district families for up to 8 sessions. Click HERE for treatment request.
