Units of Study

  1. "Think Like a Historian"
    (Students will learn historical thinking skills: sourcing, corroboration, close reading, contextualization, and source evaluation. These skills are essential skills that can be used beyond Social Studies.)

  2. Federal Constitution
    (Students will learn about about the Constitution, Bill of Rights, what our government consists of, and how our government functions.)

  3. Westward Expansion and Industrial America
    (Students will learn about increasing westward migration in the United States. They will also learn about the shift from agricultural economy to industrial economy and how that impacted the United States culturally, geographically, and economically.)

  4. Progressive Era
    (Students will learn about the wide range of economic, political, social, and moral reforms. These included efforts to outlaw the sale of alcohol; regulate child labor and sweatshops; scientifically manage natural resources; insure pure and wholesome water and milk; Americanize immigrants or restrict immigration altogether; and bust or regulate trusts.)

  5. American Imperialism
    (Students will learn about the United States expanding its influence internationally economically, militarily, and culturally.)

  6. World War 1 and World War 2
    (Students will learn the cause and effects that lead to both World Wars. They will also learn about the impact the wars had on the United States economy and its role as a world power.)

  7. Economics 1920's and 1930's
    (Students will learn from key historical events in American History and their impact on the economy.)

  8. Personal Finance
    (Students will learn about financial responsibilities and the basics of spending and saving.)
