Vocal Music

PJHS Chorus - Chorus is open to all students that love to sing.  Chorus meets Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:30 - 4:10 in three independent sessions.  The fall session meets in September and October, the winter session meets in November and December , and the spring session meets in April and May. Fall Chorus  is our introduction to vocal music. We have a meet and greet on  THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 and our first rehearsal is on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10.  Rehearsals are held after school in room 221 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:10 during the months of September and October.  This fall choral session in non-cut.  Come hone your vocal skills and learn to use your instrument.; explore a variety of music, meet other students who enjoy singing, learn about  sight reading and solfeig .  Consider challenging yourself with an audition for our chamber group, Forte, or to represent PJHS at the all state choral festival.  For REHEARSAL TRACKS, click the FALL CHORUS link above

Winter Chorus  meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:10 during the months of November and December with a goal of preparing music for our winter concert with the band and orchestra.  This winter choral session is non-cut. Come share the joy of the season as we carol for our Park neighbors, celebrate with our classmates and light up the LGP Christmas Tree with the community.

2024 Spring Musical "Peter Pan"     - The musical  offers a chance to act, sing and dance.  The show is non-cut.  Placement auditions will be held in January after a week of prep.  Rehearsal schedules will depend on the role in which you are cast. Show dates are Thursday, March 13  (daytime dress rehearsal); Friday, March 14  and Saturday, March 15, 2023.  Please click the tab above for additional information.

Spring  Singers is our spring choral session that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:10 during the months of April and May with a goal of preparing music for our spring concert with Prelude and Jazz Band. Come wrap up the year with a great variety of songs and instrumentation.

FORTE Singers  is our auditioned chamber group. Forte Singers must be chorus members. Students admitted to the group will complete a recorded audition demonstrating accurate pitch, beautiful tone and an ability to sing harmony independently.  The group typically consists of 9-16 members and focuses on a cappella singing, tight/jazz harmonies, musical independence and community service. Auditions are tentatively schedule for mid/late September.   Audition material and preparatory rehearsals will be explained during our fall chorus session.

Forte has not been reestablished since Covid.  I REALLY hope to get it rolling again.  

ILMEA junior chorus is an auditioned group of singers from across the state. I am very excited to introduce Park singers to this incredible experience.  At the end of September, students interested in auditioning will prepare a recorded audition (details will be covered during our Fall chorus session).  This is a largely independent venture for interested singers.  It is recommended for students studying privately.  Students selected to perform will attend the junior concert festival day in early November.  There is a fee for participation.
