General Information
Are visitors allowed on campus? - Visitors on campus will be limited and available by appointment only. All visitors will be required to sign in and have their license or id checked.
How can I check my student our early? - Check-outs must occur prior to 2:00 daily to assure that there is no confusion during the end of the day dismissal. Office personnel will check your ID before releasing the student. No check outs after 2:00 p.m.
Is my students allowed to bring a drink to school? - Students are encouraged to bring a clear personal water bottle to school; no other beverage beside water is permitted. Extra water bottles will be available for purchase at student lunch time.
What does my student need to bring to school? - Please refer to the supply lists on the Preparing for your Voyage page. Refrain from sending excess materials to school.
Scheduling/Guidance
What if my student's schedule has a mistake on it? - If there is an issue with your student's schedule, please contact the guidance department at the school Monday - Friday 8:30-3:30.
What if my child needs to see a guidance counselor? - Students on campus can still see a guidance counselor throughout the day.
My student has an IEP or 504 and I want to let the teachers know about it - All teachers have been informed about students IEP and 504 plans. If you wish to communicate specific details about these plans, please contact Kathleen Toney kathleen.toney@discoveryacademy.org our ESE Facilitator.
Transportation
Where can I find my students bus schedule? - Locations of stops, and pick up and drop off times will be emailed to you prior to the beginning of school.
What time can students be dropped off as a car rider? - Students cannot arrive on campus before 8:30 a.m.
How can I find out if I am scheduled for a bus stop - Our buses pick up students certain areas in Lake Alfred, Winter Haven, Auburndale, Haines City, Polk City, and Davenport. If you are unsure if a bus comes to your area, please contact our Transportation Director, Betty Newman at betty.newman@discoveryacademy.org.
Dining Hall
How can I find the menu for students - Student lunch menus can be found by visiting the Dining tab of the main school website.
How can I add money to my students lunch account - We are discouraging any cash transactions on campus at this time. If families need to add money to their students lunch accounts they can do so by visiting https://www.k12paymentcenter.com/ and signing up or using a new account. Payments made on this site can take up to 24 hours to post.
Can students being their own food to school - Students are welcome to bring their own lunches to school. Students may not bring snacks to eat in class and sharing food is not permitted.
