Arrival/ Departure times
We have very specific arrival and departure times for your program. Please carefully read the information below:
Fly into and out of Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (airport code: NBO):
You can arrive on the first day at any time before 10 PM.
There are no scheduled activities on the arrival day, but the welcome dinner; we recommend arriving as early as you can so you can join the dinner and take some time to rest.
You can depart on the last day of the trip anytime.
Please be aware that checkout is at 10:00 AM. If you would like to stay at the hotel beyond this time, a late check-out fee will apply, and can be paid directly to the hotel. This will depend on availability.
If you are taking the Zanzibar Extension:
If you are taking the Zanzibar Extension:
You can depart on the last day of the extension after 4 pm from Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ).
The international one-way flight between Nairobi and Zanzibar is included in the extension supplement. Discover Corps will book this for you. Please see the Zanzibar Extension page for more information on visa requirements, vaccination requirements, and others.
We strongly recommend arriving at least 24 hours before your trip starts just to be safe. If you arrive late, Discover Corps has a 24/7 emergency number you can call for assistance. Please keep in mind that:
depending on your arrival time, a transfer might not be available, and you may need to book a hotel for the night and be picked up the next morning
if you miss your scheduled transfer, extra charges may apply.

Discover Corps recommends that you arrive a day before the trip start date to avoid missing part of the trip in case of any flight delays or cancellations. If you decide to arrive earlier, you have two options:
OPTION 1) BOOK THE ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSFER THROUGH DISCOVER CORPS
We can arrange this for you for an additional cost:
Single Room: $275
Double Room: $185 (per person).
The price includes one night at the Trademark Hotel* (where you will spend the first night of the trip), airport pickup, and medical insurance for the extra night. To have this added to your account, please email Claudia at claudia@discovercorps.com
*Depending on hotel availability. If the hotel is fully booked, we'll book you in similar hotel with the same standard.
OPTION 2) BOOK ON YOUR OWN
You can book an early night at the hotel of your preference directly.
You are responsible for the transfer from the airport to the hotel.
We can arrange to pick you up at your hotel on the first day of the itinerary. Please let your Travel Coordinator know where you will be staying.
For the first few nights of the trip, you will stay at the Trademark Hotel. However, for your early arrival night, if you prefer to stay close to the airport, here are some recommendations - all include free airport shuttle service:
