I’m Dr. Bharat Lal, a MSCA Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the CÚRAM Research Centre for Medical Devices, University of Galway, Ireland. My research focuses on medical devices, biomedical signal processing, compressive sensing, and AI-driven healthcare systems, with the goal of creating secure, efficient, and intelligent medical technologies. I earned my Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technologies (Eccellente con lode) from the University of Calabria, Italy, where my work explored compressive sensing techniques for energy-efficient and privacy-preserving physiological signal processing. I also conducted research placements at the University of Siegen, Germany, and the University of Essex, UK, strengthening my expertise in cross-disciplinary collaboration and sensor systems.
Before my Ph.D., I completed a Master of Engineering in Automation and Control and a Bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan. I have also served as a Lecturer in Electronic Engineering, where I taught embedded systems, control theory, and electronics design, and supervised undergraduate and master’s research projects.
Outside of research, I am an avid traveler and cultural explorer. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to visit more than 10 countries, including China, Italy, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands, among others. These experiences have enriched my global perspective, inspired collaboration, and deepened my appreciation for diverse scientific and cultural environments.
