Dear Parents and Students,
Hello! Welcome to Dillon School District #10 where I teach students both at Parkview Elementary and Dillon Middle School. I am very excited to get to work with your child this year. Let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Dalton Gardens, a suburb of Coeur d'Alene, ID, where I attended Pre-K - 12th grade and graduated high school. During my childhood, my parents, sister and I spent a great deal of family time exploring the outdoors by camping, snowmobiling, swimming at the local lakes, floating the Coeur d'Alene River. After high school graduation, I attended North Idaho College for two years to get the majority of my general education classes completed before I transferred to Western Montana College in Dillon. I earned my Bachelors in Elementary Education in 1999 from Western MT College where I met and married the love of my life, J.D. I have been teaching for nineteen years in a variety of capacities, including Title I reading and math grades K-5, Gifted and Talented, and Preschool. My husband, J.D., and I have four beautiful daughters named Katelyn (23), Lacey (20), Stephanie (15) and Celina (13). We enjoy fishing, swimming, 4-wheeler riding, range shooting, camping, boating, and huckleberry picking to spend some time together in the outdoors and away from technology. At home, I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and baking.
Again, I am super excited to begin working with your child this year. In 6th grade Reading, we will have fun reading and discussing several novels over the course of the school year as we learn new spelling and vocabulary words as we work on numerous concepts including plot, characterization, plot, setting, conflict, resolution, tone, imagery, and so much more. Gifted and Talented offers some small group pull-out and whole group enrichment working on both some STEM activities and brain games to stretch student's minds to think outside the box. I want students to remember the “Power of Yet.” Those difficult concepts are just things he/she doesn’t know yet but given time, practice and perseverance he/she will master these skills. Please remember, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail, call or schedule a meeting.
Sincerely,
Kim Pape
