Dear Parents and Students,
I am so excited to have the privilege of being your teacher this year! I want to introduce myself before the school year starts on September 3rd. My name is Mrs. Porter and I will be your fourth grade teacher this year! My name is Katie, but for as long as I can remember I have been called KC, which are my initials. Our family moved to Dillon a little over six years ago. I have three children and my husband, Tucker, works for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and went to Colorado Christian University. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. This will be my 16th year teaching and my seventh at Parkview. I first started teaching in Golden, CO where I taught 4th and 5th grade. My husband and I then moved to Bozeman for my husband to get his graduate degree at Montana State in 2010. While living in Bozeman, I taught 3rd grade for Bozeman Public Schools. When my husband graduated from M.S.U. he accepted a job with the BLM in Idaho. We lived there for 5 years and I stayed home with our three children. We have always loved Southwest Montana and jumped at the opportunity to return to this special place.
4th grade is a challenging year of growth for students. I will try to create clear communication and expectations. Together, we can make this a successful year for your student! I am available for questions and concerns. My contact information is listed below. Please feel free to contact me at any time. If I am available I will answer, and if I am not feel free to leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
