Welcome!
Dear 2nd Grade Families,
My name is Chance Mayer, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher at Parkview Elementary School! I am new to the Dillon community and am looking forward to making a positive impact in your child's life. My family and I moved from Belgrade over the summer in order to be closer to family (my wife grew up here) and to have a steadier change of pace compared to the busy lifestyle of the Gallatin Valley.
I graduated from Montana State University in 2020 with a degree in K-8 Elementary Education and a minor degree in K-12 Reading Teaching. I have a wide variety of experience teaching in elementary schools including long-term substitute jobs in kindergarten and 2nd grade, student teaching in 1st grade, and teaching the past four years in 4th and 5th grade. I believe my background has conditioned me to effectively differentiate instruction so all students can be challenged and successful wherever they are in there learning journey.
I am a strong advocate for research based and data driven instruction. In my classroom, I am constantly utilizing best teaching practices based on educational research and collecting data on student progress. Lastly, my behavior management ideology relies on making sure students create, understand, and practice established class/ school norms.
Outside of the classroom, I am most likely spending time with my wife and son, playing golf, growing my knowledge of the game of chess, improving my crossword and sudoku skills, or reading a good book.
Teacher and family communication is a key component to the success of all children throughout their educational career. Please feel free to navigate this page to see what our learning goals will be each week and to view any upcoming events/ classroom reminders. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's progress at Parkview Elementary School, please don't hesitate to reach out.
With Panther Pride,
Chance Mayer
