All discipline problems will be dealt with in accordance with the student handbook.
Overview:
8th U.S. History Students will study the history of the land of the United States from the Pre-Columbian era to the Reconstruction. Students will also learn the format of the government and the constitution of the United States.
Objectives
Students will be instructed on the following topics:
The Beginnings of American History Prehistory-1400
European Expansion 1000-1720
Colonial Life 1500-1750
Forming a New Nation 1750-1790
Structure of the Government and Constitution
Challenges of the New Nation 1800-1840
The Nation Breaks Apart 1840-1860
The Civil War 1860-1865
The Reconstruction 1863-1896
The Age of Industry 1896-1920
Teacher Expectations:
I expect every student to come to class on time and prepared to learn every day.
Student Expectations
Complete all assignments
Arrive on time
Be prepared for class
Take notes on a regular basis
Be respectful to students and staff
Homework
I will try to keep homework to a minimum but from time-to-time students will have homework. Assignments are to be turned in on assigned due date. I will allow students to turn in assignments up to three days late. The highest grade a student can receive on a late assignment is 70%.
If a student is absent from class it is his/her responsibility to meet with me to discuss what the student has missed.
Grading:
Grades will be given on a total point system as follows;
Homework 10-20 points
Quizzes 10-40 points
Tests 20-100 points
Class Projects 50-100 points
Participation 10 points (participation points will be given daily at the teacher’s discretion)

Overview:
7th Grade Social Studies World Geography, focusing on physical, environmental, political, and cultural geography. Montana History focusing on Montana Statehood, geography, history and the government of Montana.
Montana History Objectives:
Students will be instructed on the following:
General History of Montana
The geography of Montana
History of Montana’s native people 1700-1920
The century of transformation 1800-1900
The development of the state 1900-1939
Modern Montana 1945-present
Geography Objectives:
Students will be instructed on the following:
Use of a globe to understand knowledge of the earth
Use of charts and maps to show land and water forms
Understand charts and maps key information such as population, resources, climate, vegetation, landforms, and water masses
Use latitude and longitude to locate places on maps
Recognize different types of maps
Understand how geography has shaped and changed cultures throughout history
The techniques and strategies, which have been used to protect and manage the
environment
To apply the five themes of geography
Understand world economies
To know how the environment has changed and why
To know locations of continents, countries, provinces, and states
