8th Grade readers

The online class will cover the following: 

ELA - 4th nine weeks

The students will focus on test-taking strategies. They will practice everyday in preparation for End of Grade Tests through reading passages aligned with the standards that they will be tested on.

Previously:

ELA - 1st nine weeks

Students will learn:

• analyzing development of central ideas

• summarizing of informational texts

• citing evidence to make inferences in informational texts and literary texts

• analyzing comparisons and analogies

• analyzing dialogue and incidents in stories and drama

• determining themes

ELA - 2nd nine weeks

Students will learn:

• summarizing of literary texts

• analyzing word meanings

• analyzing word choice

• analyzing the structure of paragraphs

• determining point of view

• analyzing how authors respond

ELA - 3rd nine weeks

Students will learn:

• determining word meanings

• analyzing analogies and allusions

• comparing and contrasting structure

• analyzing differences in perspectives

• evaluating an argument
