Over the next three years, the K-12 AI Infrastructure Program anticipates making grants to develop public goods that can advance the quality of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. A first Request for Proposals (RFP) is expected in early 2026. This Request for Information (RFI) is intended to inform the first and subsequent RFPs.
Note: We welcome the submission of comments that address one or more of these questions, or to provide additional information that you believe should inform the RFPs. There are no specific length requirements.
What challenging and important educational problems could be newly addressed by a multitude of innovators if necessary public goods were available?
What types of datasets, models, or benchmarks (a) are most needed to broadly advance a multitude of K-12 products and services and/or (b) present particularly ripe opportunities to rapidly and dramatically advance K-12 AI applications?
What are existing exemplars of datasets, models, or benchmarks that should inform this work?
What existing publications are important to informing this effort?
What are important related efforts?
What resources or supports are needed to convert existing AI datasets, models, and system components to public goods?
