See the AMAZING work that our

Lumberjack-STARS

are doing during RED/WHITE learing time!

LESSON A: Create an interesting sentence using the words from the “magnetic” word bank located at this link: http://magneticpoetryplayonline.com/original/

I sit drunk in a dream because it's a dream. ~Jordan Walsh, Team Woodchoppers

FEEDBACK: I LOVE this sentence! Your use of repetition is very effective because there are so many connotations of the word "dream". Well done!

There’s an enormous death storm here in the west side of the bloody forest where people are slaughtered. ~Iris Lopez, Team Chippers

FEEDBACK: Wow! What a macabre sentence! It has gothic and apocalyptic undertones, which really makes your sentence poetic and interesting. It is also grammatically correct. Great job!

A thousand pups make up the mass and spirt of the apparatus of death. ~Barrett Price, Team Woodchips

FEEDBACK:  Wow! This is a super cool sentence because it eerily describes Death. I can "see" Death jumping around like energetic puppies. Great job!

LESSON D: Analyze the poem "A Blessing" by James Wright by making inferences and personal connections.

This poem reminds me of my two dogs. The way my dogs act make me think they are in love. Everytime my dog Bruno sees Bella he always sits right next to her and she always starts to lick him. Even when we are feeding them they are always together, and when they are sleeping they always cuddle. They always need each other to go outside and they always protect  one another when there are dogs and other animals. ~ Jaslene Robles, Team Woodchoppers

FEEDBACK: You did a great job connecting the experience of your dog--and the love portrayed from you and by your dog--to the horses in the poem.

LESSON G: Write a poem by generating ideas through the use of sentence effectiveness, including use of parallel constructions and placement of phrases and dependent clauses.
