SOAR-TOUCH is an EU-funded project involving the DIAG department of Sapienza University of Rome and the Robotics and Mechatronics department of the University of Twente in the Netherlands, focused on investigating energy-saving control schemes for aerial physical interaction, based on tactile feedback, from cheap soft optical tactile sensors.
The project is funded by the third Technology Exchange Program Open-Call of EuROBIN. SOAR-TOUCH addresses the Challenge: "Use of Soft Optical Tactile Sensor to Increase Resilience and Robustness in Real-World Aerial Robotics Manipulation".
The project aims to develop a robust and energy-saving force-based control scheme for aerial robotic manipulation using Soft Optical Tactile (SOT) sensors. The proposed technology will allow for stable contact with minimum pushing force, thus reducing energy consumption and allowing for spreading aerial robots in the field of autonomous inspection.
