PhD Forum

The AmI PhD Forum intends to bring together PhD students working on theories and applications of Ambient Intelligence. We particularly encourage students that are somewhere in the middle of their research to submit to this Forum.

The Forum's objectives:

  • Provide a setting where PhD students present and discuss their work as well as meet other students and mentors from the research community
  • Get feedback on their current research plans
  • Get fresh perspectives on their work from researchers and students outside their own institution
  • Promote the development of a community of scholars and a spirit of collaborative research

Submission Instructions

The PhD Forum papers will be peer-reviewed. When preparing your submission please consider including the following points:

  • Your current situation: the university program in which you conduct your research (Department, year of study etc.)
  • Motivation that drives your PhD research
  • Research objectives/goals/questions/hypotheses
  • Literature review of key prior work that frames your research
  • Research approach and methods
  • Results you have up to this point
  • Next planned steps
  • Current and expected contributions
  • One concluding paragraph of what is it that you specifically aim to get out of the PhD Forum


Submissions must include an appendix (in the same pdf file) with a letter from your primary supervisor that addresses the value that the PhD Forum would have for you, what contribution you are likely to make to the PhD Forum, and why is this a good time for you to participate.

The length of a PhD Forum submission including figures and references may not exceed 8 pages. In addition to the paper of 8 pages you must also submit a poster that summarizes your work.

PhD Forum contributions must be written in English and submitted in PDF format. For preparation of papers please follow the instructions for authors for preparing plain proceedings papers; with page numbers; available at the CEUR Web page (http://ceur-ws.org/Vol-XXX/samplestyles/).

At least one of the accepted PhD forum’s authors should attend the conference to present the work.

PhD Forum Proceedings

Accepted and revised papers will be published as an online CEUR Volume, indexed by SCOPUS. Submissions should follow the publication policies of CEUR, especially paying attention to format and copyright requirements detailed here.
