DAI History
Mt. Diablo Analytical Solutions and Reporting Institute, LLC, was established in March 2017.
Diablo Analytical Institute undertakes two main environmental health activities, providing epidemiologic services to organizations and completing epidemiologic research projects. The former activity is offered to organizations for a fee, while the latter is supported by DAI funds allocated for epidemiologic research projects or the use of research research grants from other sources.
DAI combines scientific research methods with applied surveillance to advance our understanding of environmental hazards' contribution to the occurrence of adverse health outcomes among persons associated with organizations.
The Institute also develops new analytical procedures that can be used to document how the health of organization members or service recipients exposed to air pollution is compromised. A secondary objective is setting up and implementing interventions to improve overall health of persons associated with organizations, employees and service recipients.
The DAI service component utilizes a variety of epidemiologic data analysis methods to understand and resolve the adverse health effects that result from the environmental exposure to elevated air pollution concentration levels and ecological hazards experienced by organization members or service recipients.
Leadership
The DAI business model is based on the experience of its two executive directors. Together, they have decades of experience in research, public health, healthcare, and education. Access to additional expertise, as required by a new project, will be made available through subcontractors. In addition, subcontractors will be used to complete work on larger projects.
John T. Braggio, PhD, MPH, President, and Director of Research. He has a combined total of about two decades of research experience as an academic and research physiological/comparative psychologist (18 years), and more than two decades of experience as an environmental public health epidemiologist (24 years) in three state health departments (Oklahoma State Department of Health, Oklahoma City; Maryland Department of Health, Baltimore; California Department of Public Health, Richmond). Dr. John Braggio’s CV (see below) enumerates his academic training, work experience, research support, scientific presentations, publications, and professional honors. He has published 43 research papers and three chapters in books. He made numerous presentations at scientific meetings in the U.S. and in Europe. Starting in 1985 and continuing to the present, Dr. Braggio’s biography has appeared in numerous reporting sources. Most notable biographical citations have been in Marquis Who’s Who in the Frontiers of Science and Technology (1985), Biobehavioral Sciences (1986), Medicine and Healthcare (1996, 2000-2001), Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (2018), and Marquis Who’s Who in the World (2020-2021).
Sheryll M. Braggio, B.A., M.Ed., Vice President, and Director of Human Resources. Her résumé (see below) lists her academic background, work experience, presentations, and professional recognition. She earned a B.A. degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1979 and an M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, Oklahoma in 1985. She qualified for a standard psychometric certification in 2004 and completed classroom instruction on a school psychologist certification but did not finish the practicum before retiring from the Oklahoma City Public School System and moving to Baltimore, Maryland. She worked as a teacher for 24 years in North Carolina and Oklahoma in mathematics, computers, and counseling. In addition, she did online teaching in Baltimore, Maryland. Between 1998-2004 she was the middle school counselor at the Classen School of Advanced Studies, Oklahoma City. In 2002 and 2003, she was the coach of the Classen School of Advanced Studies (Oklahoma City) girls' golf team. Her girls' golf teams won the All-City competition both years. Between 1963-1974 she worked as a radiologic technologist in Atlanta, Georgia hospitals. Ms. Braggio is the co-author on 7 scientific papers, and 9 scientific papers presented at professional meetings. Her professional accomplishments have been included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (1994, 2002, 2005-2006), American Women (2007), Who’s Who in America (2008), and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (2017).
