Residential Trips

Residential courses organised by schools are an invaluable part of the Curriculum. Learning outside the classroom offers new and exciting challenges, children will work together as a team, develop independence, confidence and an ability to recognise strengths and weaknesses in a constructive way. We have tried to offer a variety of trips; both in duration and in content.

This site lists residential activities that are being offered during Curriculum Enrichment Week. Please click on the individual tabs above to see what is on offer this year. We are currently taking expressions of interest for each trip, so that we can gauge interest and to confirm each trip's viability.

There will be alternative day activities in the local area during the week, details of which will be provided at the end of October. 

Please discuss the residential options available with your child. If your child wishes to participate in one of these trips, please complete the following Google Form by 9am on Monday 21st September. You may select up to three trips, in order of preference.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM

If your child is selected for one of their chosen residential trips, you must pay the deposit by Monday 11th October, in order to guarantee the space. Deposits are not refundable if your child decides not to go on the trip at a later stage.

Some trips may not be viable due to low student numbers.  In the event of oversubscription a draw will be made. In order to make costs achievable trips many need to be 40 students to fill a coach. If a trip is not deemed viable we will try to offer your child an alternative residential or he will take part in the daily activities that will be offered shortly. 

Please note: we cannot guarantee friendship group places and cannot refund deposits on that basis, also it may be the case that other residentials are either full or not viable. Itineraries and trip details advertised may alter due to availability, but we will always ensure that students receive the value of what has been paid.

Important Information

The vast majority of trips/extra-curricular visits are not a mandatory part of the national curriculum or the DHSB curriculum. Students who are currently making the wrong choices that don't fit in with our values and the high expectations of representing the school in the wider community will not be allowed to proceed on the trip and will not be entitled to a refund.

All students taking part in school trips are expected to follow our Trips Code of Conduct . To ensure the safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment of everyone involved, high standards of behaviour, compliance, and mutual respect are required at all times.

A student’s place on a trip may be reviewed, withheld, or withdrawn if:

• They have a record of poor behaviour during the current academic year.

• They exhibited serious misbehaviour on a previous school trip.

• Their current attitude or conduct presents a risk to staff, or poses a significant risk to the safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment of other students.

• They are involved in an incident that jeopardises their own safety or the safety of others.

To ensure clarity, the following specific thresholds apply:

• For Easter trips, any student who reaches 50 behaviour points by Christmas will be withdrawn from their trip.

• For Summer trips, any student who reaches 100 behaviour points by the end of March will be withdrawn from their trip.

• If a student passes 100 behaviour points after Easter but before a summer trip departs, parents will be invited to a meeting to agree on a formal behaviour contract.

Financial Liability & Refunds

When registering your child and paying a deposit or subsequent installments for a trip or activity, you accept responsibility for the full trip costs if your child is withdrawn due to behaviour issues.

While the school will liaise with travel companies to try to secure a partial or full refund on your behalf, refunds cannot be guaranteed and parents remain liable for any unrecoverable costs.
