ABOUT THE COLLEGE

The College was established in the year 1964 and has been a haven for generations of enthusiastic learners for more than five decades. The college imparts value-based quality education and empowering the youth inculcating the strong principles of Vaishnavism. The college has 21 UG, 13 PG and 7 Research programmes. In the past five decades, the college has seen tremendous growth in its infrastructure and has adopted innovative methods of instruction with restructured and revamped OBE curriculum. The college is one among five colleges in the city to be awarded the status of CPE – College with Potential for Excellence by the UGC during 2017 and it also has the distinction of being one of the very few colleges selected by the Department of Bio-Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India under DBT STAR College scheme.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1964 offering Chemistry for Pre-University classes was upgraded to graduate course in 1968. It was further upgraded as PG department in 1985 and as a Research Centre in 2000 offering M.Phil. and Ph.D. degree programs. The Department has well equipped, separate laboratories for UG,PG and Research students with essential instrumentation facilities. The Department has actively involved in research sine 2000 and has produced about 50 M.Phil. scholars and 8 Ph.D. scholars. At present, 10 Ph.D. scholars are pursuing their research. The department excels in research activities with scores of publication in reputed International and National journals and completed two minor research projects from UGC. The area of research includes Material Science, Nano-Chemistry, Photo-Chemistry, Electro-Chemistry, Polymer-Chemistry and Synthetic Organic Chemistry.
