High Jump Technique
At the start of the season, we will work on approaches and mastering the scissor kick.
Once you are comfortable with your approach and clearing the bar, we will start practicing the Fosbury Flop.
Mason sent me this link and it is a gem! Watch this and you will improve your jump height!
Establishing a good J approach is essential. We will measure and mark these so that you can stay consistent at practice and meets.
How do I practice at home?
Short sprints
Stair runs
Skipping
Bounding
You need to work on SPEED! The faster you can run, the higher you can jump! Other activities you can do at home include: single leg hops, double leg hops, core exercises, hill runs (are there hills around here?!?), and of course, stretch!
