Assessment

The six plus one approach to writing encourages you to build a kid-friendly writing rubric using the six-traits (conventions, organization, ideas, word choice, voice and sentence fluency). The unique piece about building this rubric is that you are encouraged to build it with the child(ren) that will be assessed by it. This gives them a sense of ownership and makes sure that the students understand what the rubric is asking of them.
