Meet Mrs. Fisher

Welcome Back to School 2023

I hope that you all had a wonderful, healthy and safe summer filled with super fun days. I truly enjoyed my time off from school with my husband, Kyle, and our 13 year old son, Grayson.  The beginning of our summer was packed with rehearsals and script memorizing. Grayson performed as Shrek in our community theater's production of Shrek, The Musical. The final production was amazing!!! After Shrek wrapped up, Grayson's cousins from Pensacola came up to IL for a visit. It was their first time up this way in 10 years! We usually head to FL for a visit, but my brother and his family came to us this summer. We also enjoyed a trip to New Buffalo, Michigan with them plus we took a college tour of Notre Dame. We tagged along since Grayson's cousin is preparing for college. Once we were home, we enjoyed lots of swimming, biking and tennis,  plus daily walks with Brandy (our 3 year old pup). We also enjoyed many family movie nights and game nights plus it was a summer filled with concerts. Hanging out with neighbors and friends made the rest of our summer truly awesome. To wrap it all up, Grayson enjoyed another visit from his cousin from South Carolina. Family time is the best!

Now Grayson and I are getting ready for school.  He heads off to his last year of  Jr. High in Oswego (where we live) and I am about to start my 30th year teaching at Lester School. I started at Lester teaching children with orthopedic impairments and multi-needs in a SASED self-contained classroom.  Then I became a resource teacher. Six years later, I moved into the role of a 5th grade teacher after receiving my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University. After seven years in the classroom, I transitioned back to being a resource teacher. Then I was given the opportunity to teach 1st graders, and now I am looking forward to my eighth year as a 1st grade teacher.

I believe that all children are readers, writers, mathematicians, and problem solvers. I also believe that all students are brave and can achieve whatever goals they set for themselves. Therefore, I can't wait to learn with my students this year... it's going to be AMAZING!
