  • Readworks.org - ReadWorks provides K-12 teachers with what to teach and how to teach it—online, for free, to be shared broadly. The tool provides the largest, highest-quality library of curated nonfiction and literary articles in the country, along with reading comprehension and vocabulary lessons, formative assessments, and teacher guidance. Most importantly, everything ReadWorks does is based on proven cognitive science research, not unproven academic theory.

  • DigitalReadworks.org - Just like ReadWorks, but it is the digital version. Your students join your class using a class code and their google account. You can assign articles to groups of students or individuals. Each article has vocabulary and a quiz. ReadWorks grades the quiz and for the written response you grade it & it automatically sends back to kids. For directions on setting up your class click here.

  • Tween Tribune - A resource curated by Smithsonian that allows students at different grade brackets to access informational text articles at their level. Teachers can create a free account to monitor student progress.

  • NewsELA - NewsELA is an education technology startup dedicated to transforming the way learners access the world through words. The tool allows students to access multi-leveled texts, question sets and more. Teachers can monitor student progress.

  • CommonLIT - Resources for 5th grade and up. Resources are organized by grade, thematic unit, literary device and standard.

  • Reading A-Z - Mission statement of, "To provide affordable, easily accessible, developmentally appropriate teaching and learning solutions to all educators and students who need them." A wealth of resources to support young learners.

  • Wonderopolis - Ever wonder why something happens? This website answers the great wonders of the world. Each topic has informational text resources to support the wonder. Check out the "Wonder of the Day" to find a new idea each day!

  • DOGO News -

  • Storyline Online - "Reading to children has been repeatedly shown to improve their reading, writing and communication skills, logical thinking, concentration and general academic aptitude… as well as inspire a love of reading." This website has many famous actors and public figures that do read alouds for students. All books have correlating activity guides.

  • StoryNory - Storynory features a collection of original, fairytale, and classic children’s audio stories. Students can follow along with the story as it is read to them, as the text is also included on the site.
