Academic Achievement
Band is a full credit, graded, curricular class. Report card grades for band are based on assessment of the following standards:
Understands the language of music
Performs music with artistic expression and technical accuracy
Students have assignments (outlined below) from "16 Weeks to Superior Bands." Students may choose to do our challenge curriculum for additional practice within the standards.

Practice every day! Remember, it is much better to practice 30 minutes each day than it is to practice 1 hour every other day.
Have a set place where you practice with your book, a stand, a chair, and your instrument. Make sure that this is a quiet place is where you will not be disturbed and where you may concentrate on your playing.
Have a goal or goals established for every practice session - this can be from your music or technique assignments.
Always begin each practice session with a warm-up.
Use a tuner and metronome (options depend on the operating system):
