Please see the schedule HERE to view your child's book-check out day. Please help your child remember to bring their book back each week on their designated check-out day. They can then choose to to RETURN it or RENEW it.
If an item is overdue, there are no late fines or fees. However, if an item is more than 4 weeks overdue, I will reach out. If the item is lost, there will be a replacement fee charge.
If a print book is damaged, please do not try to fix it yourself. The teacher-librarian has special repair supplies to fix ripped pages, missing stickers, and sometimes broken book spines. If a book cannot be repaired, then it must be replaced.
Lost books can be replaced by paying for the cost of the book or by replacing yourself with the same item in new condition. For example, if a hardcover book is lost or damaged, then a new hardcover book can be purchased online or from a local bookstore instead of paying the replacement fee.
Students are responsible for taking care of the items they check out from the library and returning them on time.
We appreciate parents' support as students learn to take care of their library items, and we encourage students to keep their library items in one safe place at home (away from pets, water bottles, and younger siblings).
A part of the job of a librarian is to ensure our collections are filled with diverse books, in good condition, that students enjoy checking out of the library! We want our library to be accessible to our Belle Aire students! It is our responsibility to weed out damaged books, multiple copies of the same book, and books that are rarely checked out.
That being said, it is also our job to purchase new and exciting books that students will enjoy to replace the old books. We are on a budget, so appreciate any donations from our wish list.
