Behaviors to Improve Success

  • Be prepared.
    • Bring necessary materials to class.
      • This includes your binder, writing utensils, handouts, homework, and your brain.
        • All brains must be in working order and must be able to think!
  • Review for exams and quizzes, rehearse presentations, and read for comprehension.
    • Complete assignments, labs, and activities.
    • All assignments are to be completed on time and to the best of your ability.
  • Take advantage of retake / redo opportunities
  • Attend class.
    • School policies on tardiness and absences will be adhered to.
    • If you know you are going to be absent, please see Mrs. Atkins BEFORE you leave
    • If you are absent, you must see Mrs. Atkins as soon as you get back
  • Get involved!
    • Thinking skills will be emphasized throughout the year!
    • Let me “see what you are thinking”.
    • To do this you must get involved in classroom warm-up problems, share ideas, share potential answers, share relevant information, and look for more than one answer.
  • Learn from others.
    • You all bring a wealth of information from varied backgrounds, listen carefully to others when then are speaking, you can learn a great deal.
  • Seek extra help, if needed.
    • Best time to see me is before or after school. I am also available through email or during home base.
    • Please see me before it is too late.

  • Plan ahead!
    • I will attempt to give you a 1-2 week calendar.
  • Use the science website
    • The science website will have important dates and additional review materials that will help you.
