Star Student

Each week, one student will be picked as our Star Student of the week! I will randomly choose a student on Friday, and that student will be the student of the week starting the following Monday. I will provide each student with a poster to be filled out and decorated for homework. These posters will be displayed in the classroom throughout the rest of the school year.

Here is an outline of the week:

Monday: Present Poster

See example below for poster help. If your student is not comfortable with drawing (much like me), feel free to print out pictures to tape/glue on the poster. I will then laminate it here at school.

Tuesday: 20 questions with special item

Have your student bring in an item of importance to them. I will put this item in a box, and the other students will have to use 20 yes or no questions to guess what that item is.

Wednesday: Teach us something!

This is your student's opportunity to teach the class something about themselves! This could be teaching us about a hobby they have, teaching us a few words of another language that they speak, teaching us a recipe that they cook with family, or something else about themselves! It should be 15-20 minutes. Do not feel like you need to prepare a presentation, it should be informal!

Thursday: Read your favorite book aloud!

On Thursday, your student has the option to bring in a book from home and read this book aloud to the class. If your student is not confident reading the book by themselves, I can read the book for them with your student sitting in a special seat up front, and answering questions about the book.

Friday: Help pick next week's student

On Friday, the class will celebrate the end of the star student's week by helping me randomly choose the next week's student.
