27 MAY 2025, VIENNA - The Ambassadors of ASEAN Embassies in Vienna and the officials of the Economic Chamber of Styria highlighted the huge opportunities for cooperation between ASEAN and Styrian businesses during a meeting in Graz. The Graz meeting was organized by the Lao embassy as the current chair of the ASEAN Vienna Committee.

The Ambassadors emphasized the region’s attractiveness as a trade and investment destination for Austrian companies citing ASEAN’s consistent economic growth, growing market, and strategic location. Officials discussed potentials for collaboration in start-ups and innovation, renewable energy, education, and tourism.

Ambassador Evangelina A. Bernas said that the Philippines and Styria can explore cooperation in the areas of creative industries, science and technology, and innovation. The Philippines considers these sectors as its main priorities in driving economic growth and development for the country. Ambassador Bernas mentioned the presence of Styrian semiconductor company ams-OSRAM and Andritz Hydropower in the Philippines.

Styria is the second largest State in Austria and boasts a strong industrial presence and advantage in research and development. The ASEAN Vienna Committee undertakes economic diplomacy activities to promote economic partnership between ASEAN and Austria.
