29 OCTOBER 2025. Claude Tayag led an urban sketching walk with Vienna-based Filipino visual artists and participants in Vienna’s historical city center on 23 October 2025. The event titled, “Guhit at Galá” was organized by the Philippine Embassy in collaboration with Sige!, a Filipino creatives group in Vienna.
Claude Tayag shared his artistic influences and techniques in sketching Vienna’s foliage and imperial structures, such as the National Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum of Natural History, Hofburg Palace, and Palmenhaus. “Not many artists use water color as it is a more difficult medium to control. However, I always liked water color because it demands a level of certainty and precision in every stroke. This is part of the process of identifying the medium you feel most comfortable expressing yourself in”, Claude Tayag said.
The sketching tour started at Maria Theresien Platz before heading to Burggarten followed by Palmenhaus. The event closed with a traditional Viennese dinner where Mr. Tayag continued to share stories of his influences in his cooking, writing, and visual arts. END.
