21 November 2025, Vienna - The Philippines, in its capacity as Chair of the Far East Group (FEG) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was lauded for its efforts in championing the sovereign equality among Member States in the IAEA during the Board of Governors meeting on 19-21 November 2025 at the Vienna International Center. The Philippines facilitated the entry of Kazakhstan in the Far East Group. Kazakhstan has been applying for a regional group in the IAEA for the last sixteen (16) years. The FEG’s acceptance of returning and new members is a strong manifestation of the Group’s full support for the restoration of sovereign equality among Member States and full respect of the right of Arealess States to apply for membership in a regional group. The FEG is composed of Cambodia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Republic of Korea, and Viet Nam. END
