PH EMBASSY CONDUCTS FIRST SEMINAR ON FILIPINO WORKERS’ RIGHTS AND CONSULAR OUTREACH IN SLOVAKIA
4 OCTOBER 2025, BRATISLAVA. The Philippine Embassy in Vienna conducted its first post-arrival orientation seminar (PAOS) for overseas Filipino workers in the Slovak Republic last 4 October 2025 to inform them of their rights and available services, and assist in their integration in the country.
The seminar provided newly-arrived Filipinos in Slovakia with an overview of the services and programs of the Embassy, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Office (OWWA) in Vienna. Representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) also gave presentations on labor laws, regulations, and immigration policies, as well as practical information for cultural integration in Slovakia.
Consular and labor-related services were made available to the Filipino workers after the seminar, including contract verification and OWWA membership renewal. The Institute for Sociology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences provided support in organizing the event.
As of December 2024, there were 1,013 registered Filipinos in Slovakia. END.
