Reaching Beyond Sobriety
Dewey World Recovery Community is a safe and supportive environment for individuals in recovery from alcohol and other substances. Founded in honor of the late Dewey Morrow, our community was created as a place to rediscover life through sobriety, connection, and purpose.
We proudly welcome all individuals seeking recovery—whether through faith-based programs, secular approaches, or a personal path of healing. Our community is built on compassion, understanding, and the belief that everyone deserves a second chance.
At Dewey World, we go beyond just staying sober. Our program is designed to help participants build the skills and confidence they need to live independently in their recovery. Whether you're transitioning from detox, incarceration, or simply looking for a new start, you’ll find a place here where you’re accepted, supported, and empowered.
All are welcome here—no judgment, just the desire to grow.
At Dewey World Recovery Community, our mission is to empower individuals in recovery to reclaim their lives by providing a stable, supportive, and substance-free environment. We are committed to fostering personal growth, self-sufficiency, and long-term success—because recovery isn’t just about staying sober, it’s about building a life worth living.
To create a welcoming community where anyone seeking recovery—whether through faith-based or secular paths—can find hope, healing, and a fresh start. We envision supportive, sober, and affordable living that empowers individuals to rebuild their lives and thrive in lasting recovery.
We serve those in recovery with compassion, kindness, and humility, honoring every individual’s journey—whether rooted in faith or a secular path to healing. Guided by love, respect, and a belief in second chances, we foster a community where dignity is restored, hope is renewed, and lives are transformed.
Founder of Dewey World Recovery Community
A Vision Rooted in Recovery, A Life Devoted to Service
Dewey Morrow was born on May 14, 1939, and passed away on January 10, 2019—but the legacy he left behind continues to change lives every single day.
In 1984, Dewey moved from Huron, Ohio to the quiet town of Bunnell, Florida. It was here that his greatest work began—a mission fueled by faith, humility, and a heart for service. Having walked the road of recovery himself, Dewey believed that those searching for sobriety deserved more than just a meeting—they needed community, compassion, and a place to feel safe.
So he opened the doors of his home, quite literally. He hosted Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in his living room and around a fire pit in his backyard. What started as a few chairs and coffee soon grew into a movement of hope. By 1994, Dewey and fellow members of the recovery community came together to build a clubhouse right next to his home—a sacred space that has stood for over 40 years.
And Dewey had one rule:
“Never lock those doors.”
Because he believed recovery should never be out of reach, not for anyone, not ever. That clubhouse became more than just a meeting place—it became a refuge, a home, a lifeline.
As the years passed, Dewey opened his land to host sober events during Daytona Bike Week, Biketoberfest, and holidays, ensuring no one had to celebrate alone or in unsafe environments. He began placing campers on the property to offer longer stays for those who needed time to reset, reflect, and rebuild.
In 2023, his grandson Shawn and family moved from Ohio to Florida to carry the torch forward. With the same heart for service, they continue to grow Dewey World Recovery Community—honoring the man, the mission, and the movement that began around a campfire.
Today, Dewey’s vision lives on: a place where faith and fellowship meet, where recovery is always possible, and where the doors remain open—just as he intended.
