step by step guide to FAFSA completion

Did you know that the FAFSA is required for you to graduate?

Use the steps and links below to help you through the process.

You can also reach out to your school counselor for assistance.

STEP ONE: CREATE AN ACCOUNT (FSA ID)

Both the senior and the parent need to create their own login.

PLEASE SAVE YOUR ID IN A SAFE LOCATION-

YOU WILL NEED THIS LOGIN INFORMATION REGULARLY

STEP TWO: START THE FAFSA

Parents will need their current tax documentation and W-2

step three: fill out the demographic section

Name, Date of Birth, etc. Make sure to enter your personal information exactly how it appears on your Social Security Card. Do not use nicknames. This is to be completed for the student not the parent. When the form refers to "you" or "your", it is referring to the student. If in doubt you can also look at the banner on the left side of the screen and it will indicate if you are on the student or parent page.

STEP FOUR: LIST THE SCHOOLS -

Add every school you are considering even if you haven't applied or been accepted.

step five: answer dependency status questions

step six: fill out the parent demographic section

STEP SEVEN: SUPPLY YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION

STEP EIGHT: SIGN AND SUBMIT YOUR FAFSA

You are not finished until you and your parent sign it. The quickest and easiest way to sign your FAFSA is online with your FSA ID.

step nine: send your confirmation to your counselor

All Seniors will receive the confirmation of the FAFSA completion to the email address given through your FSA ID registration process. After completing the FAFSA check your email regularly to ensure receipt of confirmation. You must send your confirmation to your school counselor via email.
