Class overview
In this class you will learn the history of the United States of America from the time of the 13 Colonies to the Reconstruction period after the Civil War. You will be learning of our countries struggle for freedom, creating the government that we have today and the wars that were fought along the way. You will encounter foundational documents like the Declaration of Independence, learn about founding fathers and presidents as well as challenging times in our countries past like the Civil War and the issue of slavery.
All classwork and resources that are needed for assignments can be found in your Google Classroom. Each student will join a classroom specific to their hour and teacher.

Hi y'all! I am so excited to be teaching you about our amazing country this year! I began teaching American History right after graduating from LSUS in 2008 and have been working at NDMS for all these 12 years. Over the years I have had two amazing children of my own and have put down roots with my husband here in Stonewall. I became a teacher because I am passionate about history and especially the history of our country. I can't wait to get started!

Hey guys! I can't wait to get started on our U.S. History adventure this school year! I am beginning my 14th year of teaching and my 7th year at NDMS. I am mom to four great kids and wife to one fabulous man! Originally, I am from the great state of Virginia, but have made my home here in Louisiana for the last 16 years. I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you as we get to know our shared history as Americans!!

Hello students! I am excited to be teaching you this year. I look forward to our time working together as we learn about the history of America and discover how our Constitutional rights have expanded and changed over the years. Many of you know me from last year in the 6th grade; I enjoy teaching, coffee, and hilarious moments that only come from teaching middle school. This year we will be full of all three! Seriously this is going to be a great year!
