The LRC uses a flexible schedule model. Whole class groups have priority over other individual patrons using the space, but we will attempt to be flexible whenever possible.
Teachers wishing to send small groups to the LRC or bring whole classes to the LRC should schedule days and times with Mrs. Moore. Both the library and room 200 are available for teachers to schedule. Individual students may use either space providing a class isn't already scheduled.
High school students taking online associate's courses may use the library during their designated class period and will have priority usage of room 200 to work on their courses in a quiet space.
It is greatly appreciated when teachers inform the LRC before assigning research or book projects so the library media specialist can be familiar with the project, share best resources available through the library, and best assist students in their research.
High school students may come up with permission from a classroom teacher or from a study hall (space permitting) to look for a book, conduct research, make school-related copies, type or print, or work quietly on a project. Anyone not working on school-related projects will immediately be sent back to class.
Students must have a note from their teacher sending them down for the librarian upon arrival.
Books may be checked out for three weeks and may be renewed once for a maximum of six weeks checkout time.
Books with active holds will not be renewed.
Books wanted for longer than the allotted six weeks must be checked in and sit on the shelf for five days before being rechecked out.
Only three books per student may be checked out at a single time.
DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks are for classroom use only and will not be checked out to students; however, students may listen to audiobooks while in the library at the Audiobook Listening Station.
Yearbooks may be used in the library but cannot be checked out.
Overdue notices will be delivered to students at the end of each semester with a list of overdue items that need to be returned. Please check your overdue materials frequently to prevent consistent email generated reminders.
Fines are not charged for overdue materials, but students are required to pay for the replacement of lost or damaged items. Seniors will not receive their diploma until all books have been returned or replacement fine paid.
Do not move chairs or other furniture around without permission.
No food or drinks are allowed in the library (except for bottled water at the tables).
The library media specialist must be present for students to independently use the library space.
Ask questions if you have them!
Respect others, the space, and the resources that the library provides.
The LRC is a learning environment. While collaboration, talking, (and fun!) are encouraged, students must be mindful of their time and purpose in the library. Anyone participating in disruptive behavior will be sent back to class immediately.
